Best for

For creators building a serialized comic or webtoon, from script to publishable art.

Steps

Script

30-40 min

ChatGPT

Write the episode script with beats for setup, development and resolution, and what each panel must communicate. Webtoons pace for vertical mobile screens — one information beat per screen.

💡Lock the cliffhanger ending of each episode before writing, or serialization loses readers.

Panel breakdown & storyboard

30 min

ChatGPT + you

Turn the script into a shot list: panel count, shot size (close-up/wide), camera angle, expression and dialogue. Vertical webtoons usually run 8-15 panels; comic pages hold 4-6 panels.

💡One idea per panel — overloading a panel is the classic beginner mistake.

Image generation

1-2 hours

Flux / Midjourney / Leonardo AI

Generate panels in batch with a consistent style prompt (same series and keywords). Leonardo's Flux models and character references work well for turning comic line art into color.

💡Keep one style template and change only scene, action and camera per panel.

Character consistency

1-2 hours

Midjourney + Leonardo AI

Build a character reference sheet (front/side/full body/expressions) and use --cref or image-to-image feedback so characters don't warp across panels. Make 4-6 reference images for key characters and hand-pick the most faithful result per panel.

💡Test the consistency flow with one protagonist over three panels before rolling out a whole episode.

Dialogue bubbles

30-60 min

Canva Magic Studio

Overlay bubbles, position dialogue, font size and balloon placement so reading order stays clear. Keep webtoon dialogue light — no more than two lines per screen.

💡Keep the balloon style uniform; read the dialogue aloud and cut anything clunky.

Publish

30 min

Publishing platform + Canva

Export long images or pages sized for the platform (webtoons commonly 1080×1920 slices), add a cover and a first-episode teaser. Update the series and mine reader comments for the next episode.

💡Bank three episodes before announcing a schedule so you never miss an update.

Tools involved

Pitfalls to avoid

Characters warping per panel

Consistency is the hardest part of comics; use reference sheets plus human picking, don't expect one-shot perfection.

Overloaded panels

Cramming too much into one panel confuses readers; one idea per panel, control pacing with panel count.

Bloated dialogue

AI loves verbose lines; keep dialogue under ~20 characters and skip anything the art already shows.

Style drift

Include the style keywords in every prompt and reinforce with image-to-image feedback.
